#10 - "Winchester 73" was his second western, but the first with Anthony Mann. ("Destry Rides Again" was the first; I am assuming you are counting it as a western)
ReplyDelete#2. Because he had experience driving a six horse team.
ReplyDelete#4. The Cincinnati Kid and Nevada Smith.
ReplyDelete#7. The More the Merrier.
ReplyDeleteWho are we: Brute Force, Howard Duff, Art Smith, Whit Bissell
ReplyDelete#1. Burt Lancaster, Hume Cronyn
ReplyDeleteWow OK , Tom, Good to see you here. Winchester 73 was really James's 3rd westeren, Broken Arrow was "In The Can "before Winchester 73 but was released after. Dawn your are correct on all 3. Saz, I'm impressed as always . Your correct!
ReplyDelete#5. james clavell wrote both screenplays; on UK list of 100 greatest war films
ReplyDelete#8. fritz lang
ReplyDelete#6. I thought none of the plans made it back. But as one character says: "You can't kill a squadron."
ReplyDeleteThat number #10 question was too confusing in my estimation.
ReplyDeleteRick ,your quote of the last line of the film is correct, and your right no planes made it back to base. Saz #8 is correct. For #5 you got half of it, still need one more thing. BTW James had Howard Koch as a co-writer on 633. Tom sorry you thought # 10 is too confusing,I admit it was tricky . Thats why I asked if the film was released second. According to IMDb Broken Arrow was finished before work was started on Winchester 73.
ReplyDeleteYeah... but both movies were released after "Destry".
ReplyDeleteTom, your right. BTW speaking of" Destry "it was made 3 times . Do you know what # the James Stewart version is?
ReplyDeleteNo I don't. What are all three versions? I only saw the Jimmy Stewart one.
ReplyDeleteTom , you might want to check out the Nior Chick Flicks Western page. We have a number of post's about "Destry." To answer your question, The first version was done in 1932 and stared Tom Mix. Jimmy's version was the first "remake" and it was remade a second time in 1954 with Audie Murphy as the star.
ReplyDeleteCould you send me the URL of the post? The link would help me to find it. I don't see any tags for "Jimmy Stewart" or "Destry" on that site.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Tom
Tom , just go to Nior Chick Flicks you can use the link here ,scrool down to Chick westerns-, Jane Russell click on and then scrolll down about half the page, should be right there. Paul
ReplyDeleteOk. I found it. Is this a new site? Very nice. But I am not sure that all of these westerns would be considered chick flicks.
ReplyDeleteOK Time for a recap. I still need a answer for #3. and the second part of the answer for #5 and the answer for #9.
ReplyDeleteAlso I just found chicks on Safari.
ReplyDelete#5. Both produced by the Mirisch Company.
ReplyDeleteTom, I know... maybe you can help me with a new name? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn
Hi Dawn! I didn't realize you were the proprietor of the site; now I realize this is an offshoot of the franchise. I'm now following; it looks great. How about The Great Westerns? or Chick Flicks presents The Great Westerns?
ReplyDeleteTom, The Great Westerns, works best for me. Thank you.
ReplyDelete#9. on the atchison, topeka and santa fe
