  11. #8) The character of Kim was given more songs (and one of Van Dyke's was cut to build up Ann-Margaret's role). Albert was Birdie's agent in the play but not in the movie. Albert's mother did not get married in play.

  12. Gilby , that's pretty good. The first song Kim sings"Bye Bye Birdie" is not in the play. They also changed Got a Lot Of Living to Do, put in the Ballet bit on the Ed Sullivan show, and had Albert's "back up "
career change from an English teacher to what ever the heck it was in the film

  15. Saz, your right. BTW still need the number of films that Tyrone and Henry King did.Dawn said 8 but it's more than that.

  17. Paul, I got Bye, Bye Birdie because my hs has done that show twice since I've worked here. Inevitably, I start comparing plus Dick Van Dyke was never pleased with the film version from what I've read due to all the changes (especially building up Ann-Margaret's role)

  18. Gilby, 11 is correct. BTW I know Bridie so well because I was in the pit band (drums)for my HS production, I still remember the "song cues"
    for each musical number.

  19. How could I have missed #3. The Razor's Edge ?!!

  20. That's cool Paul. In many ways, it's sad Chita Rivera never got to be Rosie onscreen. In the stage version of Birdie, Rosie is clearly the larger role & her numbers are the stronger ones.Conversely, I think Grease was a better movie than stage musical.

  21. Gilby, as much as I like Janet she was really wrong in this film. Just think what Chita or even Gwen would have done with " Shrinners Ballet" .
