Who Am I? I had a long career in both movies and television, beginning with an uncredited part in Love Finds Andy Hardy. The following year I appeared (credited this time) in a small part in a movie that was nominated for 13 Oscars and won 8. A few of my many uncredited movie roles included parts in Northwest Passage, Air Force and the Harvey Girls. I had a lot of credited movie parts too, including one in the movie in which Marilyn Monroe had her first major role. In the 1950s, '60s and '70s I appeared in diverse parts in various TV programs, ranging from Hopalong Cassidy and the Lone Ranger to My Three Sons and the Munsters. Who am I?
Who am I? Even though I was an actor (heck, I was one of the red-headed brothers in GWTW), I'm probably best known for my voice, being a long-standing DJ at LA's former classical radio station, KFAC. Who am I?

3. Who played the conductor in the remake that Alfred Hitchcock did of one of his own films?
4. Which piece did he (#3) conduct in that film?
5. What do Max Showalter and Casey Adams have in common?
6. Who was the side-kick on the second Gale Storm show and what was the name of the show?
7. What was the profession of the Gale Storm character in the show in the previous question?

#8. I think it was: Jim Nabors.
ReplyDelete#1. was it...How to Marry a Millionaire?
ReplyDeleteAre you..Rand Brooks ?
ReplyDeleteWay to go Dawn!! Who am I #! is indeed Rand Brooks!
ReplyDeleteBut unfortunately Jim Nabors and How to Marry a Millionaire are not right....sorry!
#3 was Bernard Herrmann. I also thought Jim Nabors was the coffee house manager in TAKE HER SHE MINE.
ReplyDelete#1. Was it... Don't Bother to Knock?
ReplyDeleteHi Rick, you are absolutely right about Bernard Herrmann! Want to guess what he conducted?
ReplyDeleteAnd you are also right about Jim Nabors....at first I thought it was Bob Denver, but he was the singer at the coffee house. Jim Nabors IS the manager, although he was uncredited.
So Dawn was correct in stating that Jim Nabors was the answer to #8! Sorry Dawn!
ReplyDeleteDoes Herrmann conduct some of the score from the original version of THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH?
ReplyDeleteIs Fred Crane the other "Who am I?"
ReplyDeleteMax Showalter & Casey Adams are the same actor -- he went by both names at different times
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn, I missed your question about #1...no it's not Don't Bother to Knock.
ReplyDeleteThat's possible Rick but I'm after the name of the piece he's conducting at Royal Albert Hall.
Gilby, you're right on target....you're correct about Fred Crane and also about Showalter/Adams! Good job!
#1 is Ladies of the Chorus
ReplyDelete#2 he played another "Randy"
Kim, yes and yes! Rand Brooks played Marilyn Monroe's love interest in Ladies of the Chorus and went down in history as the first man to ever kiss her on screen! His character's name was Randy Carroll.
ReplyDeleteWasn't #6 Zasu Pitts and the show Oh, SUsanna (is that spelled right?)? So on #7 Gale played, I believe, a cruise ship entertainment director or a member of its service staff, like beautician, manicurist, stylist.
ReplyDeleteAnd didn't Herrmann conduct his own concerto?
Beelzabub is correct on #6 and #7! Good job! Gale Storm was a cruise ship director.
ReplyDeleteBut no, Herrmann did not conduct his own concerto.
