Trivia Time - Part 66

This week's TT should be very easy if you're of a "certain age", but if not, it could be tough!

Who Am I? My career spanned more than 50 years. By my third year in film, I had already worked with Ethel Barrymore in an Oscar-winning movie, albeit uncredited. I also worked with Cornell Wilde, Dick Powell, Spring Byington, George Sanders, James Cagney, Paul Henreid, and Rita Moreno among others. I appeared in numerous television productions beginning in the late '40s. Eventually I ended up with a TV show of my own in the '60s, which lasted only one season. Who Am I?

1. Name the TV series and Oscar-winning film mentioned in Who Am I?.

2. Which film starred Bruce Davison and Kim Darby?

3. Name at least four films from the 1970s in which Bud Cort appeared.

4. Who were the stars of the film, Getting Straight?

5. Name the "stars" of the film, Carry It On.

6. Name the ABC series starring Jack Warden, Frank Converse, and Robert Hooks.

7. The theme song for the first season of this popular ABC series was an instrumental composition. From the second season on, lyrics were added by Morgan Ames. Name the series, stars, composer of the theme, who sang it, and the theme's new title.

8. Alan Price was featured in one film in the '60s and one film in the '70s. Name the films, stars and the directors.

9. In the second of the Malcolm McDowell/Mick Travis sagas, Mick has a job as a traveling salesman. What was he selling? Name the film.

10. Which composer wrote more scores for Flynn movies: Max Steiner or Erich Korngold?

  7. See, I told you guys that if you were of a "certain age" this would be easy!!

Gilby, very good, you must be of a "certain age"! LOL! You're right about Who Am I?, #s 1 and 7! We had a couple of questions in tribute to Anne Francis because of her recent passing.

    Dawn, you got #s 2, 4, and half of 3! That's great!

Rick, you BETTER have gotten #9! LOL! You're right about #6, and partly right about #8. You didn't mention the '60s film I was looking for.

I'll give you a HUGE clue, one of the people in the film, Carry It On, is also in that film.

  8. Recap: still need to answer half of #3, 5, half of 8, and 10.

  9. Paul, I guess 44 is "a certain age." However, my mom owns Honey West plus Burke's Law on DVD -- she got me hooked years ago when TVLand used show the 2 series during Crimetime weekends!

  10. Hey, I include myself in the "certain age" category, Gilby! And I've got you beat by a wide margin, LOL! (don't ask)

  11. #10 Paul and Joann, is this a trick question? Because as best I can see, it's a tie, with each composer doing 6 each. If that's true, it would surprise me, because I always thought Korngold would have done more.

  12. Becks, it's not a trick question. According to the authors of "The Films of Errol Flynn", the two composers each did more than 6, but one did more than the other.

  13. #10 OK, my research has been a bust, so I'm going to go with my own warped knowledge -- Max Steiner. He did so many Warner Bros. scores, I'm guessing he probably did more than Korngold for Flynn.

  14. Good guess Becks! Korngold did 7 scores for Flynn movies, while Max Steiner did 15!

  16. For 8, are you looking for DON'T LOOK BACK, the Bob Dylan documentary?

  17. What do you think Rick?

    Du-uh! LOL!

  18. Well, I was trying to think of a movie where Alan acted--not played himself! (In O LUCKY MAN!, he did both if you recall). Have you seen him in ALFIE DARLING, playing Michael Caine's character? I have lots of Alan's albums and enjoy his music, but an actor he was not.

    ReplyDelete
  19. No I haven't seen that one, Rick. I too have quite a few of Alan's albums, my favorite (next to O Lucky Man) is the one with Georgie Fame, with liner notes by Lindsey Anderson.
