We Describe the Movie...You Name It!

This is our 6th edition of this type of quiz. The rules are easy: Name each film below based on our vague description. Be sure to include the question number with your response. Please don't answer all the questions so others can play, too. There is one film that is the single best answer to each description.

1. Two females have a disagreement about shoes.

2. Guys argue about who has the coolest scars.

3. A woman dresses up like a dead woman, changes back to herself, dresses up like the dead woman again, and then dies.

4. One of the characters is apparently crazy about kitten whiskers. Go figure!

5. Turtles named after clothing accessories. Now, that's original!

6. Plastic.

7. Pacific All Risk Insurance Company.

8. Alleged criminal enters a contest to impress a pretty girl.

9. Just prior to this film's infamous climax, one character says to two of his cohorts: "Let's go." One of them replies: "Why not?"

10. When she first makes her appearance in this film, you just know that Kathie is a bad girl...

11. Is that clown a killer?

12. When you get down to it, the main character is the house.

13. In my favorite segment of this film, a woman saves her marriage by flying kites.

14. Woman destroys monster by spending the night with it.

15. One character suffers from crocodyliphobia--and with good reason.

  1. 2 would be Jaws, and 9 would be The Wild Bunch, I believe.

    1. Although that works, there is a better choice: a 1940s films with an A-list cast.

  8. 13. The Kite Runner
    14. Nosferatu
    12. The Money Pit

    1. Very impressed--NOSFERATU is correct! While several films work for #12, perhaps the best is a 1940s film with an all-star cast. For #13, it's a British film...

  13. I've decided that #12 is the worst question I've ever written for this game and apologize to everyone playing! There have been many good answers that work quite well. The one I had in mind was made in the 1940s with an all-star cast and spanned many years. GUN CRAZY is a great answer for #8, but there's another one that's actually kinda fun. #13 is part of an anthology film.

  14. Lots of good answers that work! But here are some clues about the intended answers:

    #8 is an historical adventure.

#12 was made in the 1940s and features an all-star cast. At the end of the movie, the house is destroyed and the owners decide to rebuild.

#13 is a British anthology film and one of the stories is specifically about kite flying and the impact on a marriage.

  15. 8) The Adventures of Robin Hood

  16. 13. Quartet
    12. House of Frankenstein
    8. Gentleman Jim

    ReplyDelete
  17. Is the house destroyed in a literal sense or just metaphorically?

    ReplyDelete
  18. 12. Forever and a Day

With the exception of The Wizard of Oz and The Greatest Show or Earth, that was the only one I knew.

I'm confused on #2. Both of your first 2 commenters took a guess on that. One said "Jaws", one said "Vertigo." You indicated both were correct.

    1. FOREVER AND A DAY is correct for #12. Whew! Good job!

JAWS was the answer to 2 and VERIGO for 3.

  19. #12 Maybe Mr. Bladings Builds His Dream House though I think that the rebuilding comes somewhere in the middle of the movie.
#8 The Adventures of Robin Hood

  21. I don't feel bad about my results. The only ones that I didn't really get I didn't know the movie in the first place.

It was fun playing the game!!
