The Movie-TV Connection Game (February 2016 Edition)

What's the link between Clark and Jack?
Welcome to the newest installment of one of the Cafe's most popular features. As always, you will be given a pair or trio of films or performers. Your task is to find the common connection. It could be anything--two stars who acted in the same movie, two movies that share a common theme, etc. As always, don't answer all the questions so others can play, too. There is a single best answer for each question.

1. Clark Gable and Jack Lemmon.

2. Jeanne Crain and Jean Arthur.

3. Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, and Lon Chaney, Jr.

4. Horror Hotel and Psycho.

5. Imitation of Life (1959) and the film The Godfather.

6. Audie Murphy and Ray Charles.

7. Thunder Road and Big Jake (there are at least two connections, one obvious and the other one kinda fun).

8. Planet of the Apes and Saboteur (an easy one!).

9. Wee Willie Winkie and Imitation of Life (1959).

10. Algiers and The Magnificent Seven.

11. Don Johnson and Kurt Russell.

12. Humphrey Bogart and Rock Hudson.

13. Dirk Bogarde and Steve McQueen.

14. I Was a Teenage Frankenstein and Seven Days in May.

15. Steve McQueen and Robert Fuller.

  1. #3 is the easy one: the all three played the Frankenstein monster.

    1. David, you're correct on all three. Whit Bissell was in everything in the late 1950s and 1960s...or so it seems.

    1. Randy, that's a much better connection than the one that occurred to me. I was going for that both played themselves in movies about their lives.

    10. American remakes of foreign films.

    1. Not to nitpick, but I'm pretty sure Donahue is only in Godfather 2. Well, yeh, that probably is nitpicking, I couldn't come up with another answer, LOL.

  8. Still remaining to be answered: 2, 3 (there's another response not yet given), 7, 9, and 13.

  9. I think the obvious answer to #7 is that Robert Mitchum in Thunder Road and John Wayne in Big Jake star with their own sons....Mitchum's son James actually plays the brother of Robert. I haven't seen Big Jake in years, but I'm guessing, Patrick Wayne plays the Duke's son in Big Jake.

    1. Randy, the obvious answer is the right one. (It's only obvious because you know your movies!).

    1. #3 is correct. In addition to all playing the Frankenstein Monster, they played the Mummy, too. Half of the answer to #2 in indeed THE MORE THE MERRIER.
