12. Both played magicians. Bixby starred in the TV show The Magician and Curtis played Harry Houdini.
Thanks for getting this edition off to a terrific start, Jerome!
Delete1. They both played famous real life singers in films, Day played Ruth Etting in Love Me Of Leave Me - Busey played Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story.
ReplyDeleteI thought that might be a hard one, proving once again how smart you are!
Delete14. Whales - Peck in Moby Dick and Monstro in Pinocchio
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Delete9. Thompson and Weaver were both trapped on spaceships with bloodthirsty monsters, the former in It! The Terror from Beyond Space and Weaver in Alien.
ReplyDeleteYes! I always think of ALIEN as a sort of a remake of IT.
DeleteGarner and Colman both played amnesiacs. Garner in Mister Buddwig and Colman in Random Harvest.
ReplyDeleteNicely done!
DeleteI also thought of they both played professional gamblers - Colman in The Man Who Broke The Bank In Monte Carlo and Garner of course on Maverick
DeleteThat's a nifty connection, too!
Delete2. Mickey did an earlier movie on the Firty Dozen idea - Secret Invasion.
ReplyDelete3. Francis The Talking Mule. Mickey actually owned the rights but was advised to sell.
Well done on #3. That's an intriguing answer on #2. There's another less interesting one, too.
DeleteOn 3 - they both also played Huck Finn - Mickey in The Adventures of Huck Finn and O'Connor in Tom Sawyer, Detective.
DeleteOoh, another good one!
DeleteQuestions still needing answers are: 2, 5, 6, 8, 11, 13, and 15.
ReplyDelete8. Monkeys!
ReplyDeleteIndeed! They both had chimp problems in movies.
Delete15. One thing linking McQueen and Caan is that both played San Francisco police detectives, Steve as Bullitt and James in Freebie and the Bean.
ReplyDeleteThat's one connection - I can think of 2 more between McQueen and Caan -- 1) They both played US sailors, McQueen in The San Pebbles and Caan in Cinderella Liberty. And 2) they both played thieves, Caan in the film Thieves and McQueen in The Thomas Crown Affair.
DeleteAnd, believe it or not, there's still another connection between these actors.
Delete15. They both starred in Sam Peckinpah movies--McQueen in "Junior Bonner" and "The Getaway," Caan in "The Killer Elite."
Delete7. To Be or Not to Be starred Jack, and the remake starred Anne.
ReplyDeleteYes! You and Jerome both got this one.
DeleteThere are still answers for 2, 5, 6, 11, 13, and 16.
ReplyDeleteYou've got #4 still unanswered as well that missed both your 'left' lists. So here's the one I think of for #4 - 2 x-ballet dancers - Valentino with Rudolf Nureyev and White Nights with Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Delete15. McQueen and Caan both played gamblers. McQueen in The Cincinnati Kid and Caan in The Gambler.
ReplyDeleteVery good! That was the first connection we thought of (though the others are great, too).
Delete2. Both acted under (at least) two names?
ReplyDeleteBill, you are a font of knowledge! There's yet another connection between Charles and Mickey.
Delete11. Spencer Tracy and James MacArthur both acted in movies based on novels by Conrad Richter. Tracy in The Sea of Grass (a great film by the way) and MacArthur in The Light in the Forest.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea (and, sadly, need to see SEA OF GRASS). There's even another connection between these actors.
DeleteYou've got #4 still unanswered as well that missed both your 'left' lists. So here's the one I think of for #4 - 2 x-ballet dancers - Valentino with Rudolf Nureyev and White Nights with Mikhail Baryshnikov.
ReplyDeleteYou are so good!
Delete5. Bette Davis appeared with Shirley Jones' then husband, Jack Cassidy, in "Bunny O'Hare" (1971).
ReplyDeleteThat's a good connection, too!
Delete5. Both played librarians?
ReplyDeleteVery impressive, Bill!
Delete11. Mountain climbing movies - Tracy in The Mountain and MacArthur in Third Man on the Mountain.
ReplyDeleteVery good, beachgal!
DeleteThere are still answers needed for three questions. Here are some hints: For #2, Rooney and Bronson played real-life figures who shared the same occupation; for #6, Bridges and Gortner starred in movies loosely based on the same literary source; and for for #13, Thompson and Hopkins played characters who shared the same occupation.
ReplyDelete2. Baby Face Nelson, Machine Gun Kelly...
ReplyDeleteThat was it. Thanks, Bill!
DeleteOk, I'm a little late to the party this month, but: #6: Beau Bridges was in the movie Village of the Giants, and Marjoe Gortner was in the film Food of the Gods, both of which were based a story by H.G. Wells.
ReplyDeleteAwesome job, John! That turned out to be a pretty hard question.
Delete13. Veterinarians - Anthony Hopkins in All Creatures Great and Small and Marshall Thompson in Clarence, the Cross-Eyed Lion and the TV show Daktari.
ReplyDeleteWell done, beachgal! Thanks for closing out this edition of the Movie-TV Connection Game. Thanks to everyone who played.
